The Netherlands supports Jordanian Flower Industry
New wholesale flower market to be established
Sunday,21of May 2017, H.E. the Netherlands’ Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Mrs. Lilianne Ploumen, signed a grant arrangement for the feasibility studies for the relocation of the Jordanian Cut Flower Auction. H.E. the Chairman of Amman Municipal Committee Dr. Yousef Al Shawarbeh (GAM) signed the arrangement on behalf of the Jordanian government, in the presence of H.E. Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Mr. Imad Fakhoury.
The feasibility study phase is the first step towards a new flower auction in Jordan. GAM will provide the land, manage the procurement process, and will together with the Cut Flower Association (CFA) operate the new auction. The new facilities will be of high standards and located close to the airport, facilitating Jordan to strive its ambitions to become a Middle Eastern hub for cut flower trade.
